Project Center cannot access the project(s) you are trying to view

When you are accessing Project Web access using your browser, you might see the following message.

Project Center cannot access the project(s) you are trying to view. It is most likely that you either don’t have permissions to view the project, another user has deleted this project(s) before you were able to view it or that another user is in the process of publishing the project.”

It is more likely to happen when you are accessing ‘Project center’ or ‘Resource center’. The only way I’ve found of removing this message is by disabling the IIS compression for .ASPX and .ASMX files from within the IIS manager. Disable IIS Compression

If this didnt fix the problem, You might want to try updating the index statistics for the Published project database via the sp_updatestats stored procedure.

USE ProjectServer_Published;
GO
EXEC sp_updatestats

You can also try increasing the Application Pool Performance idle timeout. Since the PWA access the database to list all the projects, it might time out sometimes.

  1. Hi!

I am doing a POC on Project Server 2007 on Win 2008 and Sql 2005. I am getting the same error inspite of disabling the compression and changing the timeout to 600 Seconds.
    Any pointers !!!

  2. Hi,

mmmh, it is not solving my problem

I’m using PS2007 behind a Juniper appliance. I have the same message in Project Center “Project Center cannot access the project(s) you are trying to view. It is most likely that you either don’t have permissions to view the project, another user has deleted this project(s) before you were able to view it or that another user is in the process of publishing the project.”

Resource Center “There was an error loading the page. Please try again by clicking Refresh. If this problem persists, contact your administrator.”

Manage Users “An error was encountered in loading the page. Refresh the page, or contact your server administrator if this problem persists.”

Compression is off…..and it is not solving my problem

When connecting directly to PWA site (internal). It is working fine.

I think it’s something in the juniper ssl vpn appliance…… URL rewriting…? Is there somebody that have these problems seen before?

    • I’m also using PS2007 behind a Juniper appliance. And I also encounter this problem :-(… Someone knows how to resolve work components Project Center in this case? Thank you…
